Well it is snowmobile safety week in North America and we don't have any snow. If you are going out for a ride in another area with snow, please be sure to follow all the safety rules. Make sure your snow machine is in proper working order so you don't get stranded out in the middle of no where. Always ride with someone else, never alone. Because of the lack of snow there will be lots of obsticles hiding under the snow, like rocks, culverts, and drainage ditches. Wildlife can be a real hazzard when riding the trails in the park, so be aware that a Moose, Elk or a herd of deer could be around the next corner. If you don't know the trails, slow down. It seems like a lot of people go out the first snow and hit all kinds of crap in the ditches. I know a guy in Carlyle that pulled a gas BBQ out of the ditch when he was snowmobiling. If you want more information about snowmobile safety click on the SSA web page link on our main web page area. Happy Trails.

NEW SHELTER
Well the club just replaced two more shelters along our trail system. The Blueline south of Forget was replaced with a new state of the art 12X16 insulated shelter. Also the Lil Red north of Windthorst was replaced with a new Lil Red 12 X 16 shelter. As of today all our shelters are brand new in the last 3 seasons. All our shelters are on the maps so you should have no trouble finding them. They all have wood sheds, axe, solar lights and new wood stoves. Some even are set up with cooking supplies. With the warm weather and lack of snow we have not been able to mark or groom any trails in the 311 trail system. The Moose Mtn provincial park was reporting 8-10 inches on most trails (before Jan 3) and they have opened some gates so riders can access some of the trails. If you ride in the park use caution as some crossing are washed out from all the rain in the spring and summer. The park is in the process of cleaning some of the trails up. For more information on the condition of the trails in the Provincial park contact the park office.

Carlyle Area Trail Changes
We are asking if anyone in the Carlyle area is interested in running a trail from the east side of town north and east towards range road 2023 then west back towards the drive in movie theater crossing hwy 9 north of True Torq and meeting up with the 311F trail just North West of town. This would avoid having to drive through town and across main street and the busy crossings. We will need some volunteers to paint up the sticks and help maintain it. Please email or call Troy at 577-7771 if you would like to help out. Thank You
